Kathmandu: Nepal Oil Corporation has urged consumers to purchase LP gas only as required and avoid unnecessary stockpiling amid global supply concerns.
Priority for Household Consumers
In a press release, the corporation requested gas industries and distributors to prioritize the sale and distribution of LP gas to households. It emphasized that consumers using gas for domestic purposes should be given priority in supply.
The corporation clarified that despite the ongoing tensions in the Middle East affecting global supplies of petroleum products and LP gas, imports and distribution in Nepal are continuing regularly.
Daily Reporting System Introduced
To improve transparency in distribution, the corporation has directed gas industries across the country to publicly share details of their sales every day by 10:00 am. These details must include the quantity sold, the address and contact information of sellers, and records of gas delivered to consumers.
Gas dealers are also required to report daily to the corporation—through their respective industries—providing the names, contact numbers, and quantities supplied to consumers.
Half-Cylinder Option Introduced
To help streamline supply and ensure wider availability, the corporation has introduced a temporary arrangement allowing the sale of 7.1 kg LP gas cylinders at half the price of Rs. 955 per cylinder, effective from Friday until further notice.
The corporation stated that this measure aims to maintain smooth distribution and ensure that gas remains accessible to general consumers during the current situation.
